January 28, 2022 P-1405-1v2201 - Central European University's Policy on Student Plagiarism

Plagiarism occurs both when the words of another are reproduced without acknowledgment and when the ideas or arguments of another are paraphrased in such a way as to lead the reader to believe that they originated with the writer.

This Policy shall be interpreted in accordance with the Code of Ethics, which shall also prevail in questions not regulated by this Policy. While both students and faculty may be guilty of plagiarism, this policy only addresses student plagiarism. Faculty cases of plagiarism should be dealt with according to the appropriate section of the Code of Ethics.

January 28, 2022 P-2106-1v2203 - CEU Policy for Increasing the Representation of Women as Faculty

This policy applies only to those academic units where women as faculty are underrepresented. When an academic unit has reached a ratio of 50% women in each academic rank (assistant, associate, and full professorships), and there is no longer an underrepresentation of female faculty, the unit will be exempt from the obligation to follow this Policy for subsequent hires so long as gender balance is maintained.

This policy finds its legal basis in the Austrian Federal Constitution (B-VG), in particular its Section 7, the Austrian Equal Treatment Act (B-GlBG) and the Private Universities Act (PrivHG).

The policy's Implementation Protocol and Reporting Form for Faculty Hires are attached as separate documents.

POLICY STATEMENT
Central European University (“CEU”) recognizes that trafficking in persons is inherently harmful, dehumanizing, and contrary to CEU’s mission and values. CEU has a zero-tolerance policy for trafficking in persons and is committed to high standards of ethics and integrity and compliance with all laws applicable to CEU and CEU Affiliates (as defined in 3.1).

BACKGROUND
CEU has developed this Anti-Trafficking in Persons Policy (“Policy”) and Compliance Plan for Combating Trafficking in Persons (“Plan”) in accordance with the “Trafficking in Persons (April 2016)” clause of the US Agency for International Development (“USAID”) Standard Provisions for US Nongovernmental Recipients. The Plan is an inseparable Annex to the Policy.
